A note from the Environmental Committee:
The Environmental Committee has been working diligently to maintain the quality of our beautiful lake.
Nuisance Weeds: They were able to treat the milfoil at the southwest corner of the lake. In the meantime, we will keep an eye on the milfoil and monitor its growth as this can be quite invasive.
Birds: Geese are a particular concern due to the fact that their feces can damage the water quality. They nest where they have direct access to land from the water. Shoreline naturalization and native plant species are a great way to create a barrier between the lake and your property to keep geese from nesting at our lake.
Goose poop is high in nitrogen (much like cow manure). Nitrogen is very harmful to the lake, as it depletes the oxygen and promotes algae growth.
FYI: Ducks are ok. They don’t produce as much waste as geese.
